“Saint Paul – a Dakota Place”
Saint Paul, Minnesota is a Dakota place. The Dakota people named it and left their marks in the landscape and in its history. Wherever you go in the state, you can find evidence of the Dakota story.
The rich Dakota landscape of Minnesota will be on display at the Black Dog in November and December. Reproductions of maps, sketches, and paintings drawn from the new book Mni Sota Makoce: The Land of the Dakota by Gwen Westerman and Bruce White (published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press), show the powerful depth of this neglected history.
Join us for Lowertown First Friday November 2nd 5-9pm. Owen McBride Platt will be painting a mural on the wall at Black Dog Cafe.
December First Friday, December 7th 5-9pm will be the official opening of the show and we will have events, reading and discussions during the month of December.
